  1. WRKY28 specifically binds to the ICS1 promoter in vivo, most probably to one or both binding sites at position -460 and -445 upstream of the transcription start site.

  2. A few genes having either WRKY or bHLH cis elements in their promoter regions showed higher transcript levels than wild type.

  3. Transgenic lines overexpressing AtWRKY28 and AtWRKY75 showed enhanced resistance to oxalic acid and S. sclerotiorum, demonstrating that both AtWRKY28 and AtWRKY75 are novel positive regulators in Arabidopsis defense responses.
